CEAR delivers a pre-magnetized transformer substation
Costruzioni Elettrotecniche (CEAR) has completed the delivery of two containerized MV/LV transformer substations for an off-shore project on a jack-up barge realized for the installation of Aeolic plants, based at the port of Rotterdam.
The two substations are dedicated for doing the so called “cold-ironing”, getting from the main grid the power to feed ship’s services when it is moored in port.
They are composed of a containerized solution CSC certified, designed for marine environment composed of two compartments with a segregated side where there’s a transformer of 4500kVA with the possibility to have 6.6 primary voltage and a 0.66/0.4kV secondary voltage, and another compartment that includes a MV air insulated switchgear 12kV/630A/31,5kA, a LV cabinet (incoming line from transformer, outgoings distribution and container auxiliary equipment distribution), and a LV pre-magnetization switchboard.
The substation is designed with a premagnetization system in order to limit the inrush current of the transformer.
The pre-magnetization system of the main transformer, consists of a Medium Voltage Circuit Breaker , a 50KVA Transformer 6.6KV/440V and a Pre-magnetization Control Panel, containing a control PLC, voltage regulator 0÷440V, controlled by an analog voltage signal 0÷10Vdc.
The system can work with local commands, that are placed on the control panel or with commands coming remotely, through the management of a control logic developed and made with a PLC.
Safety devices on the substation come with the provision of alarm and trouble shooting devices outside the substation, safety interlocks, motorized fire dumpers connected with a fire fighting system, these are installed inside the compartments of the substation with Micro-sol generator technology.
This supply for this marine application project is another important goal reached by CEAR providing a high level of safety and technology, during power energization, always seeking with R&D the best quality level and performances required by customers.
